Legalisation of Documents

All official documents issued in the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and the Republic of Maldives can be recognized in Russia only after Legalisation. 

The processing time for Legalisation at our Office usually is one working day (next day collection).

Consular fee for one document is 42 US dollars

To legalise the document issued in Sri Lanka an applicant has to 

  1. attest the documents as true and genuine on behalf of the Government of Sri Lanka at the Foreign Ministry of Sri Lanka (the Authentication Section of the Consular Affairs Division) (https://mfa.gov.lk/document-attestation/
  2. submit to the Russian Embassy an identical number issued for each document attested under the Electronic Document Attestation System of Foreign Ministry of Sri Lanka. The Embassy will download attested document through a secured electronic channel for the legilisation. 
  3. to produce original documents along with the electronically attested document. 
  4. to pay a Consular fee which is 42 USD per one document.
     A bank receipt slip will be issued by Embassy's officer in respect of each document to be legalised. Payment should be done through the bank. (Note. Consular fee is in US dollars but payment in bank will be in Rupees in due currency rate to the date of payment)

To legalise the document issued in Maldives an applicant has to:

  1. addressed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives and to get a stamp/sill on the attested document (https://www.foreign.gov.mv/index.php/en/)
  2. submit to the Russian Embassy original of the document with above mentioned stamp/sill
  3. to pay a Consular fee which is 42 USD per one document.

All documents issued by Sri Lankan and Maldivian Government Departments (eg. Registry of Marriage Certificates, Birth Certificates and Educational Certificates from local government schools) must be directly legalised by MFA in their original text (not in a “certified copy”).
