Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation
President of the Russian Federation H.E. Vladimir Putin appointed Mr Yury Materiy Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and to the Republic of Maldives concurrently (Executive Orders No. 391 dated August 21, 2017 and No. 400 dated August 24, 2017).
His Excellency Mr Yury Matteriy was born in 1953.
He graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations in 1975.
He started his diplomatic career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of the Russian Federation in 1975 and occupied different positions, particularly:
in 1999-2002 - Consul General of Russia in Karachi, Pakistan,
in 2002-2007 - Chief Counsellor of the Department of Information and Press, MFA,
in 2007-2012 - Consul General of Russia in Da Nang, Vietnam,
from September 2012 – to October 2017 - Deputy Director of the Information and Press Department, MFA.
Mr Yury Materiy is married.
